Sportbikes / Bike cuts out after redlining

Well fellas, i'm starting to think I'm not gonna find much professional help on this forum, unlike most other auto motive forums.  But that doesnt mean i'm giving up.  I have yet another problem, it has to do with redlining.  I can tell that the engine is limited to 9000 RPM even though the tach clearly marks the red at 12000 RPM.  This could be dangerous if there were no limiter.  However, the limiter is unlike any other that i have experience with.  Rather than bounce off the redline, it seems to cut the fuel completely for a couple revs.  If anyone can tell me what kind of limiter this is and wether there's a way to remove it, i would appreciate it.  The reason this is important to me, is that i don't know what is causing my bike to shut off while dropping from high revs in 3rd and 4th. For instance if i redline it, it wont cut out , but when i let the throttle go, it wil drop all the way to 0 as if there is no gas.  i can start it back up if im still moving just by letting out the clutch, but tit seems like it is starved for fuel sometimes until i give it a little throttle.  I have tuned the carb to run just fine, but i'm slightly sceptical about my carb float height since i eyeballed it as opposed to using a caliper like i should. After about 10 minutes of running, the problem seems to stop completely but i'm curious as to whats causing it so i can be sure it wont get worse or become more frequent.

Sportbikes / Front Brake Rotors

I have an american bought GS250.  I got it used so i dont know where it was originally purchased from and assembled. My brake rotors seem to be bolted to the wheel properly and the calipers have a little bit of play to the left or right, i assume this is normal, however both of my front rotors have wear markings only on the outside, the brake pads do not and never have made contact with the 1/2" of rotor closest to the center.  is there a way to adjust the brakes to get closer to the center? do i have the wrong size brake pads?
I'm going to take a picture asap to show what im talking about. its harder to explain in writing than i had imagined. :-\

Sportbikes / ZS250 GS cutting out strangely

Well my bike is starting (only with choke) and running strong without choke.  However i run into a problem when i first start to ride the bike.  It will run indefinately while at low to middle revs and through all five gears . But heres whats confusing when i hit higher revs it will get there and stay there, but comming off the throttle it will not go back to idle, it just cuts out.  If i still have speed i can clutch it back on... sometimes, but most of the time i have no luck.  Last night i ended up pushing it a couple blocks back to my house because the battery died trying to restart it after it cutout.  Could this be caused by improper float adjustment causing the bowls to empty as opposed to filling constantly while at high revs? If this were the case, why doesn't it cut out while im still revving? This right now is my only theory so i think i'm gonna pull the carb today or tommorow. Also, it seemed last time i rode (previously to last night's fiasco) that once i got it going, it stopped having this problem all together, it did do it a few times while the engine was still warming up.  I also might pull the plug, see if im fouling the shiny new iridium  ;D

I have heard three different years of this bike so far 06-08 and i wonder if anyone would like to help document the differences between them.  I own the 06 version, and when i was trying to help leemoore with his problems on his 07, we found out that both the Emissions system and CDI were quite different.  Also, there seems to be an o2 sensor on the 07's and none on the 06.  if anyone else has any helpful info please contribute.

Sportbikes / White Smoke

Well all work on engine is done, i have removed my emission recirculator and filled my tank with 93 octane and a bit of seafoam.  When i went to start it up, a blast of white smoke came from the exhaust and it streams the same white smoke while it is running, does this have to do with the octane of the fuel or is it something else such as an oil leak?  Except for the smoke, it seems to be running much stronger, havent riden it yet because im waiting for K&N cone filter : )

I have yet to find any sprocket that resembles the five lug pattern on our bike, has anyone found a replacement, i'm trying to get a higher top speed for highway.

well i've been reading up online and in the manual, and from what i gather it seems to have a fixed iginition timing which would explain why performance is so weak. Has anyone been successful in adding an engine speed sensor (ie. hall effect switch, magnetic pickup) and aftermarket cdi.

Hey guys, after waiting nearly a month, i am finally allowed to post.  I just got a used one of these for about 600 bucks with 4000 miles on it.  I drove it home on I95 and speedo said i was doin 100 (ha, i was gettin passed the whole time). It made it, but it leaked oil all over the place inluding my leg,and i got home to find the airbox was not completely on the carb :'( .  so i figure i need to redo all the gaskets as well as change all the filters and oil. Do i need to drop the engine to change the head gaskets or could they just need to be tightened? (wishful thinking)  Also i plan to reroute the emission and hopefully remove the vaccum reed garbage that puts oil in the airbox so any info on that would help.  Also has anyone swaped the airbox out for a cone filter, what size? and what did you do to compensate is it the carb needle adjustment only or more tuning necessary?  I did a compression test dry and the meter reads almost exactly 60 psi, is this normal or low?  The old girl seemed to be firing ok, but im no mechanic.   I have been to zongshen america which is not that far from my house and it seems that finding parts wont be a problem for me everything i asked for, they had so if anyone has trouble finding parts, i can talk to them for you, in person. Well, i think thats enough for the first post hopefully some of you more experienced owners can help me pimp this bike out without destroying it, lol. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
P.S. has anyone put a single cylinder MSD ignition on their bike? which pickup method did you use? which pickup method does the stock CDI use?
