Sportbikes / 2006 Zongshen Still Going ...
« on: November 22, 2014, 08:41:22 PM »
Is Zongshen still making the 250GS?  I have a 2006, still running strong, only issue I have had is a battery replacement.

Hang Out / Any Linux users?
« on: October 07, 2008, 07:27:36 PM »
Hey Y'all?  Anyone using Linux out there?  I am an Ubuntu fan, but have recently added FreeBSD as my server OS choice.  SUSE is also a great distribution.  I love Linux systems, I use BOTH KDE and Gnome, and choose my desktop based on what I am doing.  For admin stuff KDE is the best, but if I am just browsing the web or doing light personal computing, I really enjoy the Gnome environment.

Anyone else using Linux, and have any opinions?

Hang Out / Jokes and funny Stuff

Here is one of my all time favorite pics online - maybe because I know someone who looks like this lady:

How 'bout some bar jokes:

A guy walks into a bar with a piece of asphalt under his arm and asks the bartender "Can I get a beer, and one for the road"

Sportbikes / Naked GS250

Sorry, I don't have one, and don't have a picture of one, but I would like to go without the front fairing, and create more of a Honda 919 look. [attachment=0:3rgo056i]2006-Honda-919a-small.jpg[/attachment:3rgo056i]

I think this may be my winter project.  For those of you that have taken the front fairing off, is the cluster independent of the plastics, or is it all one piece?

I may start checking ebay for the headlight assemblies, and other parts.

Also, I took the little black cover off the bottom to change the oil, and thought the Zong looked better without it, except for the frame looking a little tacky in the corner.

Hang Out / Riding Peeves
« on: September 23, 2008, 07:29:44 PM »
Here is a short list of things I dislike about being on 2 wheels:

1. Lights don't seem to change for me - particularly when in left turn lanes.  I wait for another car, then pull past the line, but sometimes that other car never comes, causing a moral dilemma :?

2. Any "cagers" ever flick a cigarette at you, even if not intentionally?

3. Ahh, the smells, sometimes it is nice to experience aromas you would not notice in a car, but riding 20mps over a rotten skunk carcass is one thing I can do without.

4. While on the subject of roadkill - does anyone get paranoid at night about hitting an animal, alive or otherwise?

Riding is great, but the annoyances are magnified by the vulnerability of being without a protective metal enclosure.  Please add to the list if I left out anything.

So far, I have not had any trouble with my bike, although I have heard other riders had problems starting theirs, or with assembly.

Sportbikes / New to 250 GS
« on: April 30, 2008, 02:21:20 PM »
Hello from Yorkville,

I just received a Zongshen 250 GS "Winner".  Assembly was pretty easy, with the exception of no instructions included.  Took it out for a short ride, and was relatively impressed.  Seemed to have decent power, kept up with traffic easily at 65mph.

The bike does have a few shortcomings:
1. The side mirrors are pretty useless.
2. The seats are not on hinges, the passenger seat comes off completely, and the larger seat is bolted on.
3. I broke a bracket to the plastic cover trying to get to the battery.

The good though is that it is a pretty cool looking bike, has a decent sound, decent power, and it is unique.
