Sportbikes / Will not shut off

I hope someone can help. I have a gs250 and can jump start it with a car battery but a new good motorcycle battery will not start it. Now the strange thing. If I jump start it it will not shut off with the key or switch. The stator was replaced and I am not sure what to do now. Should I be reading voltage from the rectifier to the pos. battery cable without the battery hooked up? Thank you.

Can anyone tell me if there is a crankshaft seal behind the stator on a GS 250? The stator looks to be oil fouled and is not charging. Thank you.

Should the stator in a 250 be wet with oil? The last owner put about a quart and a half more oil than he should. In replacing the stator due to a no charging problem the old one is wet with oil and I am afraid it blew a seal due to way too much oil. Thank you

Hello I'am Bullet and have been riding for 48 years. I am a thumper fan from way back owning a 500 Royal Enfield single. My grandson has a Zongshen 250 sportbike and my wife rides a first year 1985 Honda 250 Rebel. We have too many family riders to list but I think you get my drift. I am looking forward to teaching my grandson about motorcycles in general and he aced the safety class required to get his motorcycle endorsment. I will be asking questions and hope to answer a few if I can. I have a few Lifan and e-ton products plus had a 150cc scooter. Thank you.
