Sportbikes / ENGINE CLONED FROM....
« on: December 14, 2008, 03:38:03 PM »
The ZS250GS engine seems to be a clone of the yamaha 250 Exciter AND or the 1977ish XT250 dual purp. They look almost exactly alike. I beliver the years are from ~1980 - 1990 on the Exciter and Not sure on the XT.. Well there should be ALOT of parts avalible for the yamaha. I'll be comparing parts REALLY SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Hang Out / Since September.......

Well The Dealer STILL HAS MY 'Lil Pak Mule.....GGGRRRRRRRR!  They called me afew weeks ago and told me the engine was in. Today I get a call and all they are going to do is ADJUST MY VALVES!!!!!!!  Now Nick Lin of Zongshen has ALREADY sent them an engine. The mechanic told me the engin they recieved was for another bike, THEN later in the conversation, He tells me that he cannot install the engine because it's it 2(TWO) pieces!!!!  BROKEN!!!!  I've e-mailed Nick AGAIN (fourth time now) to ask if I can do the install myself and send back the core. I hope so!!!  The mechanic said he WILL have the NEW engine installed before I hear back from Nick. Hmm, We'll see on that. I know they have a used engin in their shop. I HOPE they don't stuff that one in.

RANT!!!!!  RAVE!!!!!!  STOMP!!!!!! SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to see if Nick can get me the NEW engine serial number to me so I can check it against the one they SAID they were installing.
I kinda hope they install a used engin so I can sue the crap out of them!!!!!
It's been to them 3 times now and still no resolution........I'M TICKED OFF BIG TIME!!!!!!!
The mechanic said "this is not a precission built engine, IT WILL SMOKE upon start up and consume oil, ALL singles do."   GEEZ, I'de hate to be THAT STUPID!!!!
It ONLY smoked while injesting enough oil to HYDROLOC!!!!  And after 3 times of that and finally destroying it's self to the point that it sounds like a little man is trying to escape from the engine with a little hammer and a bagg of marbles rolling around. NOW it smokes. He said it's normal and the noise isn't that bad....I haven't used their name YET, But if this keeps up, I'll start a web page and put a blog on E-Bay,which is where I bought it.
Well That's ALMOST enough ranting.
Hope Myth is haveing better luck than I.   (Mis my "lil Pak Mule :( )

Sportbikes / EVERY ZS250 OWNER TAKE NOTE!!!!!!! "911"
« on: November 19, 2008, 09:14:04 PM »
Well we now know what happened to my engine to cause it to hydro-loc. The crank case vent tube that goes to the air box, under the carb area, was mis-routed
and pinched, allowing the oil to fill the tube and virtually pump the oil in to the fastest part of the inlet air stream. NOT GOOD!!!!  Just the possition of this hose is a bad design. You should NOT put a hose from your crank case to a VERY high velocity port on an air box. Where the hose enters the box, the box reduces in volume and makes a turn towards the carb. This creates a venturi effect (sort of) and siphones oil from the crank case at hi speeds.
So make sure the hose is NOT folded over by the framing near the airbox.  I am going to be altering the location of this hose.
Details to follow (with pics) once I get my 'lil Pak Mule back.

Sportbikes / ANYBODY (but me) BLOWN UP A 250GS
« on: November 02, 2008, 09:30:51 PM »
I'm just courious as to how many of ya have oil consumption issues?

From mile 1 the bike injested oil through the intake. At 301 miles, It hydrolocked and started rattling afterwards. The dealer had the bike for two weeks and told me it sounded normal. So I took it back home(500 mile round trip) and at 1204 miles it hydrolocked AGAIN and NOW it sounds like a little man with a hammer is trying to escape and spilled a bag full of marbles.
I researched this lil bike before buying, in the Phillipeens, its a top seller and performer, China and other Asian contrys too.
I'll assume that this mechanical faliure is a flook. The engine has a full roller bearing lower end, like my indistrutable '83 Suzuki 1100.
I hope this is a flook. The dealer is having a new engine sent in from Zongshen. We contacted Nick Lin, General Manager, Zongshen America in Florida, and he is sending one out. He says they are anxious to see what failed. Well I'm pretty sure the piston is cracked and most likely a bent conecting rod, which destroys roller bearings.  We will see.
Over all, it's been fun to run thgrough 4 gears and reach legal speeds. On my Suzi, I go through 1 gear and............  GO TO JAIL!!!!
 Any way, courious....
