Any Linux users?

Hey Y'all?  Anyone using Linux out there?  I am an Ubuntu fan, but have recently added FreeBSD as my server OS choice.  SUSE is also a great distribution.  I love Linux systems, I use BOTH KDE and Gnome, and choose my desktop based on what I am doing.  For admin stuff KDE is the best, but if I am just browsing the web or doing light personal computing, I really enjoy the Gnome environment.

Anyone else using Linux, and have any opinions?

On my laptop that was commandeered, I had three OS's.  I had Windows XP SP2, Linux Click It, and Linux...  Damn...  I can't remember the other one...  I think it started with an "M"...  The Linux had a lot of the added stuff of Vista, but I'm really kind of a Windows guy.

Windows is an Operating System, Linux is a way of life - there is a big difference.    I am a big dork.

I consider myself fairly computer savvy, but what's the advantage of Linux? XP is working great for me, and I hear talk of Linux, but I don't know why it's so desireable.

Windows is the corperate moster...  If you buy linux, you can put it one all your pc's...  You have to buy multiple copies of windows to put it on more than one pc...  If you don't they'll send you little messages that say stuff like "Critical Security Update" and when you install, somewhere in the fine print you just gave them permision to scan your computer for illegal software and they crash your system.  Then you get to wipe the HD and start over.  Linux isn't so invasive and manipulative...

Yeah, it took me a few days to get over this thread    but I am back.

Windows isn't evil, it's a business.  Which is fine.  Linux isn't for everybody, but if you have a spare old pc around, I would recommend checking it out.

I was beginning to wonder where you were X.  I thought that maybe the Natzi's caught you too!

If I'm correct, in that same security update or one similar to it, Microsoft also had things to check what kind of crap you look at on the internet and then talor some junk e-mail to it.  More or less ad-ware...

And yeah, Linux isn't for eveyone.  It's more or less the same as windows, but just different enough to screw up people.
